New War on Christianity

The war on Christianity rages out of control with a vengeance. They removed prayer from schools and apparently that was not enough. They have called the word of God an instigator of hate crimes. These nameless, faceless people have gone to court to stop every _expression of faith in Christ that the courts will allow. They desire to take the word God out of the pledge of allegiance, claiming that it promotes religion. Today, as we prepare to celebrate Christmas; the media is filled with instances of the secular world trying to take Christ out of Christmas. The determination of these secular warriors is unsurpassed in frivolous attempts to destroy what they claim not to believe.

The word God is a title. It does not denote any particular god, however these secular commandos go after it with a blood lust that surprises me. They have set themselves against the Christian God Jehovah. They have become His enemy. They desire to wipe His name and any reference to Him from all walks of life, but for what reason. Our children! They are the future of the church: our seed, our inheritance and offspring. They are the receptors of all we have worked for and believed in. The faith of our father’s, who in most cases have taught us what we believe, will be left in their hands to pass down or allow it to fall to the ground. Secular humanists know that if they can destroy the faith of our children, then the future of the Christian faith is in peril. The one thing they have not counted on is the fervent love of the believer for the Lord Jesus Christ.

We Christians have taken for granted that we will always be free. It has been easier to allow them the opportunity to win a skirmish or two, rather than take the time to wage a war of our own. When they take manger scenes from city property, should we just look the other way? No, we should put those same manger scenes on every lawn from the city building to the end of town. When they take prayer out of school, we should pray in groups across the street as our children enter that school. When they say our children can not pray on their own, then we should teach them at home. We should start a petition against the teaching of evolution in our schools. We must go on the offensive in this was against Almighty God in this country.

This is not just a war on Christmas symbols or children’s prayers. And we know that it will not stop here unless we let the world know how we feel. We have to stand up for what is right and preach from the housetops those things that will separate men from God. We can’t legislate righteousness. Men and women are changed by hearing and believing the truth of the gospel. Although these self appointed warriors seek to control our faith by going to courts across the country, they can never pass a law against faith. Faith comes from a heart that has heard and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ. Little do the secular humanists know, but where we put the manger has no bearing on our faith in what it stands for. And forbidding the display of the cross could never daunt our love and faith in the Nazarene who chose to die there for our sins.

Jesus said all these things would come. He told His disciples that the world hated Him and so it will hate you. Christians in the United States seem to be unprepared for persecution and go on with their lives seemingly without recognizing it for what it is. Although it is the fulfillment of prophesy and it is to be expected from those who hate God, still we can not afford to be silent. We must go out to this war fully armored, and prepared to stand regardless of the cost. In this country young men and women have died to give us the rights that we enjoy. We can not take those rights for granted. We can’t just go about our business as usual and forget the sacrifice of those Christian men and women who are dying all around the world because they are Christian. This is their only crime. They preach Christ! So let them remove the mangers and the crosses, but we will find a way to shout it from the rooftops.

Those Hebrew symbols do not offend us. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are honored by true Christians. Without them we would not have the word of almighty God. Without them we would not have the laws we all abide by in this country. Without a Jewish maiden named Mary, we would not have our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. We honor the Jewish people as one honors his elder brother. I would personally join them in honoring their religious symbols, as they are most holy to us as well.

The Kwanza symbols do not offend us, although I know little about it. But I believe in their right to have them without being discriminated against. I believe they should be able to say Happy Kwanza and have it said to them without the feeling that they have committed a crime.

Those courtroom marauders are offended by a lowly manger where a small baby lay in the hay. They are determined that no one see the symbols of this one birthday thousands of years ago. It only deepens my faith in Christ that so few would go so far to stop a child whose singing “Oh little town of Bethlehem.” Could it be they fear losing the war they’ve waged against the Christian people? Are they boxing with God? Thank God this battle was won on Cavalries hill!
