The Best Gift

________________

Oh if I could travel back in time, to a moment long ago
I’d travel to the Saviors side, to watch Him live and grow
Oh if I could follow Him through the streets of Galilee
To watch Him give His perfect life, on the cross of Calvary

I’d give up all my presents, and the tree trimmed in golden lights
Just to stand beside the manger and see that awesome sight
I’d give up the snow and mistletoe to be there at His side
To walk with Him to Calvary and be there when He died

Oh I’d give this earthy holiday, with its trimmings and its trees
To look upon the face of Christ, and bow there on my knees
And through out this Christmas season, as we celebrate that day
Remember Christ was born to die, just to wash our sins away

So as you kneel under the Christmas tree, to grab the gifts below
Think about the best gift, man has ever known
Remember Jesus gave His life on a rugged Christmas tree
The gift of grace, He left there, to save a wretch like me
